Working on an unexpected Miami Vice fic that hit me today, and I'm almost finished with the rough draft. I watched a really angsty episode, and decided, yeah, I need to make it worse. 😉 Now when I started writing it, I had no idea how it would end. There were three possible outcomes, one happy, one unhappy, and one a mix of both. That's the fun of writing for me, the being surprised at the endings. Turns out it's the unhappy one, but it has to be that way, for several reasons. I have some points to make about the characters and their relationship, and the time they lived in as well. Things that have been bouncing around in my head for awhile.

I wrote a slashy episode post about it on Tumblr, as well. Because, wow, these two throw me for a loop sometimes I can't believe what I'm seeing. I don't even think it's subtext anymore, not when it's so difficult to think of a non-slashy reason for some of these behaviors...

Oh, and I also made my first 'short'. I recently discovered a secret (shh!), that some of the mass-produced box sets that are put out by companies that aren't the studios... don't have copy guard. So, you can extract them to a hard drive. So, if I ever get the patience and experience, I could actually make songvids... I've always wanted to! But I have zero patience.

So, I haven't been writing any more Three Sentence Fics. I did a couple earlier in the week but haven't posted them anywhere else yet, haven't had a chance.

Bots getting smarter

Looks like the bots at AO3 are getting cleverer. I write in dead fandoms so my stuff usually flies under the radar, but I've had a few of them suddenly. One was very clever -- it read like a pretty normal, genuine comment that seemed to apply to my fic. Until I responded to thank them, and then the pitch came. Damn them.

The second one was generic enough that I wasn't fooled.

To me, the worst part is that it's going to make creators suspicious of comments if they aren't specific enough to the plot of the story. That sucks.

But in other news, I really like the way my new icon turned out.

So, there seems to be something odd going on with Dreamwidth right now -- I can't put account links for more than one community and some of my sentences are actually disappearing when I try, no matter if I use HTML or Rich Text options. Weird. So, no links.

I've been busy busy busy, mostly writing fills for Three-Sentence-Ficathon.

So, how do you go about participating in 3SF? I mostly fill and I find it hard to come up with prompts, although I try to do some. I just go browsing through the pages reading the prompts and wait for one to jump out at me. I usually get an idea right away, then I go and write it. If it doesn't grab me immediately, I usually just skip over it. If I see a rare fandom I'm familiar with, though, I like to try and write something for it, because I know what it's like to be desperate for fic in a non-existent fandom. 3SF is a great way to fulfill those wishes.

For the prompt, any/any kissing in the rain, at [community profile] threesentenceficathon

This one can be readers' choice of fandom even though I definitely had a specific ship in mind when I wrote it. 😉

Author: Cat Moon
Words: 129
Rating: G
Summary: They don’t notice the rain, only each other
Note: In one of those weird coincidences, as I read this prompt and started writing it, "It's Just the Rain" by Journey came on randomly, lending atmosphere and title (but not thematic inspiration).

TALK ABOUT A COMMUNITY SPACE YOU LIKE. It doesn’t need to be your favorite, or the one where you spend the most time (although it certainly can be). Maybe it’s even one that you’ve barely visited. But talk about that space and how it helps support fannish community.
